I just finished pulling the extremely kaput waterpump off my 1.9l WBX. At least, I assume it's a 1.9l, although I have the receipts showing a full rebuild, and can see miscellaneous relatively new parts here and there. My directions say I should have 1 bolt and 2 studs with nuts. I have three studs. All my cooling pipes have 5mm allen bolts instead of 13mm hex bolts. However, it all came off then engine *eventually.* The thermostat housing even unbolted from the dead pump. Where's the recommended spot in Portland OR for buying SS fasteners and soft VW parts? The UTI to engine rubber hose is perishing, and I also need the little diamond-shaped gasket for the coolant pipe. Also... is there a "best" Portland area mechanic for the shifter-linkage job? -- Bretts 1983 1.9l WBX Ivory Westfalia "Cunegonde" |
