Actually it depends on what digital meter you are using. One HP digital meter I have uses a monolithic IC that has all the analog signal processing done in the chip to eliminate the accuracy issue before feeding the signal to the D/A element of the meter. It is far more accurate than my legendary Triplett analog meter. However, most digital meters do not measure current higher than 1 amp. It will take an accessory for large current measurement. My Triplett meter can measure without any accessory to help up to 12 amp. Its accuracy is not great in my opinion though. David
