Dennis, Unplugging the retard hose makes the engine race, and the "suck test" of the advance makes it race also. You can also see the rotor move when you suck on them with the cap off. The centrifugal advance is working at least in that the timing mark moves to the left at higher rpms. This is all pretty rough testing, though, and anything more precise is hard to imagine testing. I mean where should the advance be at 3000rpm under such and such a load? And so forth. I put on a rebuilt distributor but who's to say what the spring tensions are? Is it a good idea to lube the cent. advance assembly on a rebuilt dist.? I didn't want to get oil in the Hall unit. |
