I never said it was any combination of overfilling and 10w-40 oil weight. Besides, overfilling was done to a van parked for 4 years with only a NOP registration. It was never driven. I found proof of the wise gentleman's words and it kept my 84 lifter noise freew for 4 years. In the past two years my 83 has climbed the summit of Tioga Pass just about a dozen times. Not at 75 MPH but constantly pedal to the metal. Since I had bad seating rings I lost quite some oil but never threw a rod. Of course it's Friday so you have every reason to suspect it. David
