"My stove unit has a SS heat shield> that folds down to make into a 'counter' anyhow." That's a dish-drainer for clean dishes when "washing up" Don. Some people have used it to cook pancakes on??? You can tell that by the scorched pattern on the underside when they try to sell the van later. I also use the Frank Condelli "VW" logo steel emblems. They do warp and turn color from the heat but none of that effects their effectiveness.
