Ryan, it sure sounds like something is "Sprung" with yours.

I've never had an alignment problem with my '84 7 passenger nor my '85 Westy ... AND ... I recently bought an '84 Westy in which the PO had backed into a tree branch slightly denting the hatch and breaking the rear window. I purchased a replacement hatch which was bolted right to the body above the hatch opening (used the hinges on the replacement hatch) and no realignment was necessary. It fits perfectly.

The beltline does not match (hatch is about 1/2 lower) and the whole thing seems to stick out 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Here's what I've done so far and it did make things better than what they were. > 1. Is there some sort of damage that the hinges may have suffered at the hands of the PO that would cause this. Could it be an older hatch? Am I crazy does everyone's van suffer from this? There's only one other van in my area and I've seen it on the road every 6 months or so. >
