If it's strictly an L shape in cross section, with no other little ribs
sticking off of it, it should be pretty easy to find something
different.  Your local Home Depot and/or Lowe's should have a rack
that's full of sheet metal, threaded rod, flats, and angles.  This rack
almost surely has L-shaped pieces of aluminum in various sizes, with no
holes.  You'll probably have to buy a piece that's longer than you need
and cut it to length, but it's easy to cut with a hacksaw.  You might be
able to get some galvanized angle iron out of that same rack, but they
may only have the kind with holes every inch or so.  If you look around
(maybe at a smaller hardware store) you might even be able to find some
brass angle that will work.

If that doesn't look like it will work, you might look around where the
metal door thresholds are sold to see if there is a metal molding there
that might work.

Failing that, drive the van to a carpet store and show them what you want.
They probably have moldings that will work in various finishes and
materials.

If you're really stuck, go to a heating and air conditioning place.
There will be somebody there that can do anything with sheet metal -
show them what you want and they can probably make it pretty easily.
