Good question! Mmmm... i have never try mixing them, what i can tell you is that the case opening (round hole where the sleeve SLIDE IN) is the same! both (2.1-1.9) fit in both engine case, the main difference between engine is the crank stroke, longer in a 2.1, but the diameter is also slightly bigger on the 2.1L. The pistons are diffrent for sure. Now, what i know is the "Sleeve" as the same exact hight, so thickness must be different. I'm also sure that the outside diameter of both sleeve is the same. If the "bore/diameter" would be the only difference in both engine, you could do it, but the 200cc is also gain in the stroke.

Interesting question! I will measure them today. I ave so many of those.

But still, to you question, the answer would be NO. And yes for the second question as to put a 1.9L into a 86+ van.
