John, Years ago I remember a Lincoln Continental that did exactly that. As I recall, it had a switch that reacted to engine vacuum. It would cutout the compressor and drop the AC fan to low when the throttle was opened. I have been meaning to investigate it further but never got a Round-Tuit.
