Bob,
   Timely post! I am in the process of replacing the seals on my engine
(2.1L with single pulley). I asked my FLAPs for everyday, run of the mill
Vanagon seals and they appear to fit fine. To check this I lightly coated
the pulley shaft with axle grease and inserted it into place. After removing
it I witnessed the grease had been cleaned of, which I correlated as a good
fit (the seal scraping away the grease).
   Please expand on your statement about the Syncro seals so I can be sure I
have the correct item.
