Subject: Re: Vanagon Fuel Tank - Repair time
Comments: To: "Jack R." <jack007@COMCAST.NET>

It has been a few years since I did mine, and there were no rust issues. So, to remove the filler pipe, cap the lines and drop the tank, replace the grommets, and reinstall the tank took me an hour or two - but it was my first time and I was not in a hurry. I would think that someone who was prepared and had practice doing this could perform the job in a half-hour if they worked fast.

One tip, you might want to leave one end of the crossover pipe not set in the grommet until you are installing the tank - as I recall it makes it easier to snake the tubes around the linkage and stuff.

It is one of those jobs that is not hard at all. Just tedious and difficult to get good positioning/ reach. I found it easier to put the front of the van on axle stands and remove the front wheels for more access.
