Dunno, seems to me a larger diameter pan might cause the "blow-by" flames from the burner to scorch the lid more..My stove unit has a SS heat shield that folds down to make into a 'counter' anyhow. Regardless, my coffee pot won't sit on the burner like it does on all my other stoves, nor will a lot of my single serving pans. I recall there being a wire "doily thingy that is used on those glass-topped ranges under some pots...I think one of those would do the job, if there is no "Check the Archives, dummy", fix that 'everyone' knows about except us newbies...
