Mike, somehow I never saw that but even if it exists and I am not aware of
it I am willing to top it up and trade it off for the benefit of avoiding
the weekly annoying lifter issue. I simply feel the lifter problem can cause
more damage to my old engine than whatever can hurt it by topping it up
to the max point.

I think you have a set of very healthy (young) lifters in your engine.
When they get old and you hear the noise once every week or more you will
want a remedy to cure it. You will want it badly. You will probably not care
if topping oil up will do anything otherwise to your engine.

Yes, it is a remedy for old and tired engine, not a suggestion for everyone.
