Yesterday while at an electronic supplier's in Rohnert Park, CA, getting a power supply for my laptop to replace the one I left at my sister's I walked to my car and a late model westy parked next to it. A 30 something man was getting out of it. I noticed it had the south african headlights/grill setup and asked the fellow if this were so, hoping to get a story of his upgrades - it was an immaculate 90 or 91. The guy was in a hurry. He said "Yes" and walked away. A couple seconds into his walk he half-turned and said, "thanks for noticing." Not quite the response I was hoping for. He had a nice bike rack, a hitch, custom wheels and narry a scratch to immaculate white paint. Even in Sonoma County, California vanagons are getting fewer and fewer. They are here, but not as visible as they were... Jeff Olson Martin, SD, at "home" in Santa Rosa, CA |
