Thanks for all the help. I spent some time last night tracking things
down. While I haven't found the reason for the 5.88 volts the buzzer relay
seemed to be the culprit for the inserting the key and having everything
turn on. It hadn't been buzzing which is actually what I prefer so I never
paid much attention. Once I started testing each output line from the switch
and where I went I just unplugged the relay and it righted the situation.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I'd still be outside
probing trying to find problems. I guess the good thing is each time
something breaks or doesn't work quit right we all have the opportunity to
share and learn a bit more about our vanagons.
