No, I'm not Bill. Now that I have that out of the way you can decide if you want to read further .... ;>) I've "regeared" my ride by using 16" rims (GoWesty Mercedes one-off's) and 215/65-16 Nokian Hakka C2's which equal 27" diameter, which is about 1.3" larger than stock. What that equals in gear change in ALL gears is unknown to me (too lazy to use one of our "tools" to figure it out) but the end result is that in 4th gear, at 75mph I'm churning right at 4K rpm. Given that this motor has an additional 1K (6300) to redline I fugure that is comfy cruising for this motor and get's reasonable mileage (around 20 mpg) and will cruise there for hours. My van is too heavy and has too much wind resistance at this speed for the engine to maintain it on grades, so I wind up in 3rd at 55mph and 4K on most hills. Hope this helps some.Bob Stevens '87 Westy Syncro "Passion Fruit"> anyone out there running an inline 4 with a regeared 4th?> I've an 1800 Jetta engine, a DK transmission.> I'm replacing the transmission and I'm wondering if the A&A regeared> 4th is the way to go.> > Advice from Daryl at A&A is that most people stick with regular> gearing for my set up, but I've always thought it'd be nice to have> lower revs at 70 mph......> > Anyone running and inline 4 with the regeared transmission?> > Any comments welcome> > > Thanks all> Bill M _________________________________________________________________ Create the ultimate e-mail address book.
