Greetings All,

Over the last weekend I moved the van and parked it in a different direction. The next day I noticed that the mounted spare had blown out. Now while I have experienced a few blowouts on the road, this is the first spare that I have ever seen blow just while mounted. I know that the spare has never been used as long as I have owned the van. The tire is now completely shredded with the steel belt out through the top of the tread. To make things just a little more odd, the windshield also now has something about like a stress crack in it running from top to bottom! Does anyone have any idea why the spare would just blow out while mounted on the carrier? The weather is in the mid 80s and the parking platform is shaded by a number of large trees.
