I have already put my two cents in here on this project, but I might add one final comment. In light of the operation practices of this so called "un-tried mechanic" I believe that I would think twice before taking anything else to him. For me (I admit to being an old timer, but that just means that I have been doing this for myself almost 50 years now) changing both part of a bearing is sort of first grade stuff. Even then, I would also question as to how well he may have packed the bearing with grease.

And to Ben, our French Canadian friend & hero, (who we would all like to mug and steal his Vanagon) before you drive me crasy, it is crazy in English!

?????

Lasy mechanic, period.

First of all, you change one side you change the other side!

You put new rotor, you change bearing, they cost nothing and you save labor time.

Oufff... i will stay out of this one or i will go crasy.
