This kind of material does a great job of damping the door etc panels which is 95% of the noise problem in a Vanagon. We haven't noticed any smell from the roofing even at 106 in the shade. I'm really looking forward to doing the hatch and the roof above the driver/passenger area.

As I mentioned before, roof patching compound does a great job under the van especially the step areas where there is only one layer of metal between us & the hissing tire on the wet road surface.
