A long time ago I saw the first 917/10 race at the Mosport Can-Am against
Hulme & McLaren before Penske & Donohue came along and steamrolled the
field.
We've been lucky enough to see lots of Porsches at the Pacific NorthWest
Historics over the years, including Steve McQueen's 917. I was really
surprised at how small the car is in person considering how large the
legend & the list of victories.
We'll be going the the 2007 PNW Historics again this year in our beloved 86
Weekender (RVC) to work as pit marshals. There's nothing like the sound of
purpose-built race car engines at full cry.
Before the recent ownership change, we used to take the van for a couple of
laps late on Sunday, just before leaving, with the bikes on the back and
all. Made the kids laugh. 8)
