Hey Subi gurus
I just wanted to chime in here on the timing belt thread. I thought you guys in the Subi world said that theSubi timing belt could be done in an hour. I remember reading that in a post not to long ago. I know that the Zetec can be done in an hour, but I was surprised when folks said the Subi could be done in an hour! So now three hours sounds better but still optimistic, I think. By the time the belt needs to be changed all of the fasteners would be rusted especially on the exhaust. I figure the rust alone would add an hour....Oh but that only applies to the east cost folks! Dam winter salt!
As for the line about the Subi vans not being around or still on the road by the time they need a timing belt change.....WHAT!!!
Whats the belt change time intervals 70k 80k 100k?... that's not that long, why invest any time and money in to these vans at all if that's the goal?
I hope people have their vanagons for the next million miles, and years! I plan on driving my Zetec till its on its last rusty leg! Then I'll move the drive line and my Zetec conversion into the next candidate!
Just rambling
Brady in MA.
Zetec inside!

null (not removing, just lowering)a null or a null in a null take
about 15 minutes, you need to remove cat and muffler, 10-20 minutes, remove
the shield, 5 minute, now, it's open field, do your stuff and lift
everything back up. Very easy.
On top, null T-belt are quite something, they have "null proof" mark, align
mark on belt with cam gear mark and crank gear mark and your done, to double
check, turn the engine until all arrows point UP. More easy than that...
Even on Honda car's it's more null, anyway, you should NOT worry about a
belt change, by the time you need one, you probably won't have your null
anymore.
John from null is right, 3 hours is about right.
