I am doing my first-ever clutch replacement on my 86 Vanagon. First for me, not for the van. I have run into a bit of a roadblock on the pilot bearing. Does the flywheel have to come off to pull it? I have rented a pilot bearing puller, but it doesn't seem to want to grab the lip of the bearing. It could be that it is too large, although it slips through the bearing fine. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks. David |
