I had to do this without a mechanic around, so I did this (from memory):

Disconnect the hoses FROM the radiator at the thermostat, and FROM the front & rear heater (at the diversion block/engine bay), Turn on BOTH front and rear heaters; remove the (blue, pressure) reservoir cap; Get the household hose out and running: Start engine and let the water pump spill it guts (collect the coolant so as not to pollute the ground water) WHILE you run a hose into the rear reservoir to feed the engine cooling system. This will floush the engine, radiataor and both heaters. When the "coolant" is running clear, keep going for a while and then when you're happy, shut it off and follow my post below.

This method does NOT require removing the frost plugs as suggested in Bentley.
