Ah yes, it was Elkhart Lake in the summer of 1971 and the McLaren Chevy's were no match for the 917!! Snuck up as close as I felt comfortable to peer down into the innards of the 917 while they worked on it a tad in the pit area. My, my, what a sanitary machine that 917 was. Definitely a life moment. Driving the 356B home to Iowa was let down, but not much.

BVTW, at work we have several battery operated Crown forklifts in our department. Two of them have ID numbers 914 and 917. The 911 is in another department. My co-workers don't get it.
