Whoa! Negative vibes.... I've never seen anyone say you could change a timing belt in an hour, any timing belt, until you and now. Did you really change your Zetec timing belt in an hour? Why did you have to change it? I'm curious I put a Subie in my VW for around $2k including the new radiator, if I'd had $8k sitting around I'd have given the Zetec a try but $8k is a LOT of money.

Nothing wrong with you liking the Zetec, nothing wrong with someone liking any engine for their VW, but do we really need the negative vibes? There is enough room on this list for all the engine ideas with out bad mouthing someone else. <shrug> Just my opinion.
