Subject: Follow-up: priming the sink pump
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Back in January of this year I experienced a problem where no water would come out of the sink faucet even though the pump could be heard working. There was an associated condition: the water tank had been completely empty prior to the problem. This happened a couple of times. I posted a request for help solving this odd issue. Various excellent ideas were supplied, but one turned out to be the quick and easy fix: suck on the faucet with the pump running.

We ran into the same problem on Monday, having just filled the tank. The pump whirred, but nuttin' came out of the faucet. So I looked around to make sure that no one except Mrs Squirrel could be watching, applied my lips to the end of the faucet and sucked. After a moment, water sprayed out. It worked.

I'm not proud that I did this. I could even feel a little dirty for having done it. Cheap and used. But sometimes a fellow has to do things he's not proud of to take care of himself or his family. With sink water assured, I knew Mrs Squirrel had a fully-operational kitchen. She stared at me with her hand over her mouth, trying not to giggle. I averted my eyes shamefully, wiped off my chin, muttered something about priming the pump, and skulked off to set up the barbecue or something.
