The Bostig response is quite interesting, well reasoned. But there is a consequence for bad dealers / manufacturors.

I'm looking for a new car, a necessity right now. I was thinking about getting a used car and waiting for the VW TDI's to come in. But the reliability question, mainly their suspect electrical systems, and price have me looking at other options.

I have not had bad experiences with VW dealers. Actually only ever dealt with one, Niello VW in Sacramento, CA. And they were pretty good really.

But I won't be buying a new VW, at least not now. Probably Nissan Versa. Drove the European car it's based on the Renault Megane in Europe and it was a darn nice vehicle.

JMHO.

Mike
