yup. me again. this time, the article is about small portable camping
grills ... them things you cook on when you go camping. i particularly
like the one that looks like a toolbox! ;)
in another article in Motorhome magazine, July 2007, they listed
several
small propane/butane-powered grills. small enough to be
taken with you in a vw camper.
here's the ones they mentioned:
---------------------------------------------------------
Broil King - Porta-Chef 4
The Porta-Chef 4 from Broil King solves sthe two most
common problems with portable grills: size and power.
If you want something that's small and light enough to
carry around, but powerful enough to put a serious sear
on steaks, chops and burgers, the Porta-Chef 4 does it
all. This basic-black bad-boy sports a cast aluminum
body for light weight and durability, while a 20,000 BTU
burner delivers the heat. A porcelain-coated cast iron
cooking grid boasts 244 square inches of cooking space ...
and when you consider the chrome-plated warming rack, that
figure jumps to 360 square inches. Broil King's Linear
Flow valve starts the LP-gas flowing, while the Sure-Lite
ignition system gets it burning and the Accu-Temp
thermometer letrs you know what's going on under the hood.
Another feature of this grill is that it incorporates
folding legs that enable it to be used on a tabletop or
stand on its own, so you'll never have to cook in a
crouching position again.
MSRP - $179

(there's also a Porta-Chef 2, with snap-into-place legs,
instead of folding legs).

Coleman - RoadTrip LXE
You can't think "camp stove" without thinking Coleman, so
it just makes sense that ahis company would offer an
RV-friendly outdoor grill. In fact, it makes five in the
popular RoadTrip line, including the RoadTrip LXE. The LXE
packs 20,000 BTUs of cooking power, and features small side
tables and tool holders to keep everything in order. With

Coleman - RoadTrip Party Grill
This little grill is like the small charcoal units you've
seen, without the charcoal ... so there's no sooty mess
or starter fluid required. Plus, it has 8,000 BTUs of
cooking heat and Coleman's InstaStart pushbutton ignition
for easy matchless lighting. All the components are dish-
washer safe, except for the burner and lid (if you're lucky
enough to have a dishwasher in your rig). The grill, pot
support, lid and carry bag are included.

<no square inches of cooking area specified ...
based on size of propane cylinder in picture, i'd
guess the cooking area to be about one foot in diameter
or only 113 square inches. but it might be bigger>

Hans Plads - Tool Box Grill Pro
This little gas grill gives "cooking tool" a new meaning.
Housed in what appears to be your workaday toolbox is a
10,000 BTU grill taht can muster up 640F degrees of cooking
heat. Measuring just 19.5 x 8.25 x 10.5 inches and
weighing in at a scant 19 pounds, the Tool Box Grill Pro
offers 173 square inches of cooking surface. Adjustable
lid vents allow easy adjustments to airflow, while the
patented design prevents ash and grease from escaping.
All of the unit's high-heat components are procelain-coated
for quick cleanup, and a built-in heat shield allows safe
grilling on wood and plastic tables. It operates on a
standard 1-pound LP gas cylinder, which stores inside the
latching box. Hans Plads also offers a charcoal version,

LP gas cylinder or a 20-pound LP gas cylinder for serious
