OEM ones don't take the sun & UV very well and as I told Tom Buese awhile
back, they aren't designed to be left on while driving - they usually fly
off (at 106K Tom is riding on blind luck/faith IMHO). GoWesty and Bus Depot
sell the OEM ones AFAIK (and I do at selected VW Shows). If there's a repro
out there I don't know about it.
They're designed for one function only: To be used when washing the vehicle
to prevent water spray from going down the vent pipes. And they don't seal
the flue completely to prevent critters such as spiders from crawling down
in there to spin their webs, thus reducing the Dometic's ability to run on
propane, however, this is something Mr Squirrel doesn't have to worry about
anymore, right?
Mr Squirrel - use yer noggin' and ingenuity - build something of a more
permanent nature that is both functional and pleasing to the eyes.
