I've seen it posted a few times to use giant allen bolts instead of welding in the pipe sections. It sounded like a good idea to me, just drill holes and put in the bolts, not as much risk of the floor rusting. In addition you could have a bit of vertical adjustment by adding washers. I wish I would have thought of this when I did mine. The guy that welded in my pipe sections was in a hurry so my drivers side seat is crooked.
