You have pointed out one of the aggravating things about UPS/FedEx/Dal when it comes to residential delivery: You have to be home to get the package. It's different at a commercial/business address. Not only cheaper to ship to (no call backs required, someone there during business hours) but constant contact between the carrier and the client, much better for building good working relationships.

As for policy, the local UPS policy is everything MUST be signed for by someone, they will not allow the tag they leave to be signed and then left for the next day. They will not leave anything out on the doorstep at6 any multiple dwelling like apartments and condominiums. If Fed Ex had the same policy this thread would never have been started.
