Has anybody ever looked in to turbocharging a wasserboxer at a low level of boost to gain another 10 or 20% for climbing hills? I'm in Washington and going places like over Snoqualmie pass needs another ~15 to 20% power to gain at anything but dangerously slow speeds on the highway. I'd rather not do a Subie conversion. It seems a candidate due to combustion chamber design as long as you free the the restrictions in the Y pipe . . . . This "would" be easier on a carburated version . . . not sure the "mass airflow sensor" really is a "mass" sensor or if it is a volume sensor. Doubt it would behave properly. Any ideas? I don't want a fast vanagon, just want one the can climb hills at a safe speed on freeways. Second gear on the highway is unsafe (only in a few ares but have hit that).

Don't even have a Westy now, will buy another in the Fall, but had my '85 "panzerkampingwagen" Westy out here in 2000 and had a hades of a time going up these hills ( from Kansas - we don't have too many hills;~) ). Is there any noticable difference between the 1.9L and the 2.1?
