Subject: Mildly-strong adhesive for slider window rubber?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I've pulled the sliding windows off both sides of Mellow Yellow in preparation to having the windows tinted* tomorrow morning. The rubber channel that the glass slides in -- above the glass and to the front -- needed to be tugged out first, as well as the little gray plastic sliders located at the front and rear of the aluminum strip at the bottom of the glass. With all that removed, I was able to pull down hard enough on the glass to get it to come out. Tight fit, though, and visions of breaking the glass danced in my head.

Anyway.

When I put it all back together I know I need some adhesive to keep the rubber channel in place at the top else it droops down and needs constant re-insertion into the frame. BTDT. But too much adhesive -- or too strong an adhesive -- and I'll never be able to tug the rubber channel out of the frame again if I need to remove a window for whatever reason.

Anyone have any Handy Hintz about adhesive type and amount?

*Probably metal film for heat-reflection. We're more interested in heat-reduction than in privacy. We don't want it dark inside. Mrs Squirrel likes her sun.
