If he never drop ships without telling the customer, he could have simply said so. Instead, he said "Everything ... is normally stocked ... with the exception of ..." OK, so far, we've learned that not everything is stocked. He continues: "in most cases it's indicated on the website and when the customer talks to any of the salespersons." Now we've been told that for those non-stocked items, the customer is not always told. "Most" is not "all." Jim also said: "Full disclosure is EVERYTHING to me...If I can't have that knowledge, I take my business elsewhere." Hence, my statement that he wouldn't do business with himself. Strangely enough, I don't have any problem with a vendor who doesn't stock items - I'm concerned with performance - are descriptions accurate, do the pick/ship the correct part, do they ship/deliver timely, do they provide a means of checking order status, do they honor their pricing, how do they handle after-sale problems should they occur? I haven't seen anything which would cause me to _not_ do business with Old Volks Home, but do find it a bit hypocritical of them to criticize another vendor for drop shipping when they themselves do the same. |
