Solar technology has made leaps and bounds in the past ten years (no, not
just PV technology), it is quite possible to charge and electric vehicle
with solar energy. That said, pollution per mile is far lower driving an
all-electric car charged by a power plant than the same-sized car with a
gasoline engine.

New storage technology is also well on it's way.
