In my travels I've noticed some "standards" among folk that go to
campgrounds. Outside of the folk that live there semi-permanently (in
those RV's that are permanently docked at just about every
campground) there are the "noise-polluters", the "out of the
housers", and rarely, some real campers.

Many commercial campgrounds are cheek and jowl spots, where the
administrators pack folk in as much as they can on the limited space
available. These places may have something scenic upon which to gaze,
but most are just there as way stops long the highway. These also
tend to have the semi-permanent folk with mailboxes stationed in
front of the RVs. Sad.

Occassionally you'll find a spot that caters to the real campers. I'm
in one now, Camp Croker Indian Park in the Bruce peninsula of Ontario
on the shores of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron. It actually is within an
indian reserve. One area of the park has "hydro" (i.e. water
hookups). The rest of the park doesn't. Nor electric. Nor for that
matter many showers. No generators are allowed at all in the
overnight camping areas. Noise is banned too (and they will enforce it.)

My current spot is about 30 feet from the water, level, shaded and
scenic as you can't believe. I have about 30-40 feet on both sides to
the next campers. No radios blaring. Quiet.
