What was really amazing to me to realize is that some fellow a couple of mountain tops away had seen the dilemma. The grader fellow, when he arrived and got down from his rig ... pointed out the site where the mountaintop fellow was located. Of course, I took a fair amount of ribbing and humorous (at least in my presence) comments about "easterners and flat-landers," and assured folks that the lessons had been learned - tune into and listen to local NOA reports, and stay the hell off mountain passes in mid-late October. One comment was that folks hoped I had enough propane and food to last the winter ... and smiled when I told them the propane wasn't the best fuel for that altitude.

The guy wouldn't accept any payment, but did refer me to a local youth organization where I could make a donation - They and I were appreciative. SamC

Now that is exactly the kind of thing that makes this world go around. I know it seems a small deed but I just love hearing things like this -- Thanks,
