Ben....you missed my point somewhere in translation: My Ducati 907 (AND the previous 750 I rode for 30,000 miles) have never gotten out of adjustment or needed shim changes, that's how good the Italian metal quality and tolerances are. They seldom, if ever, NEED adjustment. I've gone 10,000 and they were fine! Ducati still 'rules' and is a lot prettier than any Japanese bike. :-) So next time you're down in MD, bring you Suzuki, we'll see just how much 'more power' it has, there are some nice twisty roads for us to go play on. The local young bucks can't seem to keep up with their 140 hp Yamahas, for some reason. :-)
