I love the AW's. Maybe part of it is just how well they are made. I've been reading "VW Camper - The Inside Story" lately and it goes into detail of all the camper manufacturers. The AW's have lots of thoughtful stuff besides the high top, water filters, propane heaters, nice wood, etc.

As someone mentioned earlier it looks a little like the early 70's Westys. Yes, that "clump" in front of the door with the popup table looks allot like my old '72.

While reading the book, I see allot of campers that are better made and have better camping layouts than the Westy. The thing about the Westy layout, though, is it's a great layout for a vehicle that you use for daily driving the other 90% of the year. There is still room to haul 4x8 sheets of plywood and enough interior cargo space to haul, a swingset, mulch, sand, a dishwasher, etc. None of the other campers, besides the old Dormible's, seem to offer as much "year round" space.

I've been reading allot of VW camper books lately, pmail me if you want a list.

Thanks, Bryan

RE: That's a nice RV. Does anyone know is there an AC unit in the compartment above the cockpit? It seems like there must be if those vents are for cold air.

That is where the AC went in those. W/O AC you had storage there.

And I agree with the comments on the floorplan in the AW. Love the top, hate the layout. I've stepped into several AW's over the last few years and each time I like the interior layout of the Westfalia conversion better.
