My current sender fits the oil drain threads with no adapter needed. I use a couple of copper washers for sealing and am careful when torquing it. Always use a 6 point socket. The probe is fairly long too. Got an expensive sleeve from NAPA called Cooper electrics or something like that. It's braided and hasn't burned through yet. Don't recall where I bought it, but I might have bought it at the local NAPA store, as they sell VDO gauges and senders.
