2. In truth, it you have teenagers that's what I'd suspect first.

4. And this is the only useful part of my post:  I did hear on Car Talk a
while back a woman who had a similar sounding situation with the rear window on a
Jeep Cherokee, I think it was. According to Click and Clack, the Tappet
Brothers, it's not the most uncommon situation that the glass is ill-fitted or
there is a bur on the frame where the glass is mounted that in a high heat
situation when the glass expands it will shatter the window from the pressure.

Now I don't know where you are or what kind of heat your dealing with. (I do
know you're adding to the heat with that leaf blower. ;) I guess the temps can
get pretty high in a vehicle in the direct sun. In a shady spot, I suppose
none of this would make sense.

Now whether this spontaneous glass breaking from heat is actually possible I
don't know. I'm passing on what I heard on Car Talk. Also if your window is 20
years old it's a little suspect why it wouldn't have happened earlier. But if
the glass was recently replaced then I'd be more inclined to believe the
expansion was the problem.

Having said all that, I think we need someone from the crime lab.

glass was completely shattered!!! It was bulged out about an inch and a
half and looked like it was punch from the inside in two different
places! What's with that? There were not previous cracks or chips in
the glass either.
