Hey John,

Go to www.type2.com and follow the 'library' link on the left side of the page. After you enter the 'library' follow the index to the letter 'E'. Then clink on the link for 'Engine Removal'. Sean Bartnik has put together a nice description of removing air cooled motors from Vanagons.

My biggest piece of advice is be sure to get the CV bolt heads very clean before trying to remove. Stripped CV bolts are PITA.
