Mine got flakey in the middle of a long hot trip a couple of years ago. We finished the journey with a paper clip stuck in the socket which kept it on the 3rd speed all the time. I did eventually open up the switch and repair it, but I don't remember the details. I believe that corrosion on the contacts had caused the switch to heat up and the plastic supporting the 3rd speed contact had sagged so that it was out of position. Larry A. '91 GL
