Is there a 12-volt (cigarette plug) adapter for the MacBook? That would be more efficient. If not, then I have used plenty of laptops on modified sine wave inverters -- the power supplies for laptops can handle a wide voltage range and are not fussy about whether the sine wave is "pure" or not.
