David,
Likewise, I am of Chinese descent, etc. I have friendly ancestors.=) I am
usually the first to attack these type of remarks but I do not argue about
specific situations (just ask Ron). Ironically, the part of this thread that
I find disturbing is your last comment. Unlike you, I've stepped not just on
Chinese soil but just about every place my many ancestors walk on. I find
that just about every place whether in Asia or in Europe, had at one time
been considered "... 3rd world standard in almost everything..."
There's an awful lot more good stuff coming out of China than you seem to
realize. We just hear a lot of the bad stuff. I would not be surprised to
find out that there are millions upon millions of tires that were
manufacture in China where no problems were noted. We are talking about this
because some bad apple got in the bunch. The media goes on a frenzy. Guess
they're on holiday right now. Besides tires don't exactly keep warm and
fuzzy at the camp ground (except when you torch them). Otherwise, some
watchdog (no pun intended) from PETA would be screaming to the press.
There's always so much talk about tires on these lists that we should start
an oversight committee called PITA (People Irritated with Tire Arguments).
OK, I'm getting off this thread now.
Happy 4th everybody!
