Greg,

I don't know about the Tiico or Zetec conversions in luft-boxers but there has been a good deal of discussion on the Yahoo SubaruVanagon group about converting to EJ22s. There have been a number of these done. The basic engine mount up should be the same as with a wasser-boxer conversion but you have to piece together a cooling system and depending on your personal temperature tolerance you'll need to work out heating as well. The same issues would apply to a Tiico or Zetec.

There have also been a couple of loafs converted to EJ22s, Toyotas and Volvos as well.

I'm in the final stages of an EJ22 conversion on my '85 and am falling in love with the van all over again.
