Do you have a cherry picker engine hoist?? I have never tried it
without one, so I highly recommend you rent one if you don't have
one. The engine/transmission needs to be lifted quite a bit, like 5"
or so, then you pull on the engine from front of car and it should
separate easily, but needs to be lifted first. I am not sure but I
think it's the motor mounts/subframe that is in the way. Did you
remove the nuts on the motor mounts? Then, as you said you did, the
four nuts holding the tranny to engine. Accelerator cable, harness,
ac hoses, coolant/heater hoses basically all ancillaries need to be
disconnected. Double check all that. Then get a cherry picker, attach
to intake manifold (you can use old seat belts for that), and lift
the hole thing up like half a foot, then try to separate. A few yanks
will do it. It shouldn't be that hard. Else something is still
connected. I have done about 5 at the junkyard that way.
