Sounds like it's time for the periodic reminder that the original fuel lines on most of our Vanagons are old enough to buy beer.

My daughter had a different, related problem with her '87 WBX. She got a slow coolant drip at the top of one of the small hoses that connect up to the bleeder tube that goes around the engine bay. It was at the clamp so I thought I would just cut it and put it back on. WRONG! Each time I went to push it on the brittle rubber just split. Soon I had moved it enough by futzing with it that it split at the BOTTOM and the coolant just proceeded to obey our local gravity laws.

"Jet" got towed to our mechanic where ALL pressure fuel lines and any questionable coolant lines were replaced.
