Mike here in salmon arm, we got our 86 Westy (2.1 auto) out of storage and drove her home from cranbrook to salmon arm (just over 450km) yesterday. We seem to have a bit of a hot start problem, after driving and stopping (like at a gas station) the starter cranks but the engine doesn't catch. after tree or four tries it will start with the gas pedal 1/2 way down. once it starts the idle climbs between 900 and 2000 and goes up and down, but only in Park; once it is in gear it drives great and never misses. I put a new cap and rotor and wires in yesterday but the problem is still there. we are starting to stress because we are getting married in the beginning of august and hope to take the westy to vancouver island for a week, we could do without the starting issue though.
