Subject: rear wiper won't work
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I posted this problem back in January, but I'm still confounded by it. My rear wiper motor doesn't work. When I test it I'm supposed to get 12 volts for a wipe, then 0 volts for a few seconds, then 12 volts again for another wipe. Correct? Right now I get a steady 5 volts before I hit the switch. When I hit the switch - it drops to 0 then up to 5 volts again for a few seconds, then down to 0 with a click, back up to 5 volts for a few seconds... repeat. I switch if off - and I'm back to a steady 5 volts. I replaced the wiper relay and get the same results. I get this voltage reading at the connection near the fuse panel (after is passes through the relay and before it makes the long trip back to the wiper motor). There's a steady 12v going into the relay at all times with the ignition on - this doesn't seem right. The grounds appear to be good.

Any ideas of where to look next?

Also - what's the best way to bench test a wiper motor? I hooked it up directly to the battery and it didn't go - bad motor?
